No, Marvel’s upcoming Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. isn’t the only small screen series in the works. Disney is also launching a new animated Avengers series, and they’ve been kind enough to release the pilot episode online. Want to see?

Much like they’ve done with Star Wars by axing Clone Wars in favor of the upcoming Star Wars: Rebels series, Disney is keen to keep all their shows and movies on a defined, homogenous track.

The same rings true for their Marvel master plan, which is why they cancelled Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in favor of the new Avengers Assemble, which is more in tune with the big screen version of the franchise.

To help build some buzz for the May 26 premiere on Disney XD, the network has released the first episode of the two-part series premiere for free on iTunes. You can download the episode here and give it a look.

So how is it? It seems solid, and fairly similar to the previous Avengers series — only with a little more aesthetic and stylistic tweaks to match up with the big screen versions of the heroes.

What do you think of the series?
