Though we only got our first official peek at the Wachowski's new sci-fi epic Cloud Atlas this week, the dam has finally broken with a full five-minute trailer—and it looks stunning.

The film follows several narrative threads, from the 1800s all the way to the post-apocalypse, and judging by the trailer, this could be one of the most unique sci-fi films we've seen in years.

The extended trailer, clocking in at a little over 5 minutes, shows off bits from the various tales, and we start to get a sense for how it all weaves together. It looks just as dense (in a good way) as the 2004 David Mitchell novel it's based on.

To provide a bit more context, here's the official synopsis:

"An epic story of humankind in which the actions and consequences of our lives impact one another throughout the past, present and future as one soul is shaped from a murderer into a savior and a single act of kindness ripples out for centuries to inspire a revolution."

The film stars Halle Berry, Tom Hanks, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving and a whole lot more people. It opens Oct. 26.

What do you think of the footage? Could this be the Wachowskis' next sci-fi masterpiece?
