Digital comics are awesome, not just because they’re convenient to take with you on whatever e-reader you choose, but they’re also usually much cheaper than their printed companions. That price divide just got even wider as hundreds of Marvel Entertainment comics and graphic novels have now become available for the cost of nothing but a library card.

The digital library lending service Hoopla Digital has now added to its catalog more than 250 comic books and graphic novels from Marvel, according to a report from Variety. That’s a boatload of dorky reading material on top of whatever other novels and biographies you peruse in your free time.

If you’re a member of one of Hoopla’s 1,600-plus public libraries (mostly situated in the Midwest and on the coasts), you’ll have access to titles ranging from Black Panther to X-Men to Thor, all available on handheld devices like smartphones and tablets, as well as the Hoopla website itself.

In a statement, Hoopla Digital founder Jeff Jankowski noted that his company “will be the first digital service for public libraries to offer Marvel collections and graphic novels,” which creates a new, free “digital home for comic fans where they can find all their favorite titles and have instant access to hundreds of acclaimed comic books.”

Marvel’s offerings join around 13,000 other comics in Hoopla’s extensive catalog, including franchises like The Walking Dead, Assassin’s Creed, and Doctor Who, all available with a simple e-mail login and library-card registration, making the world of comics more accessible — not to mention user-friendly and affordable.
