Bigfoot exists, and he just wants to find his long-lost family in the Himalayas. That's the premise set up in the first trailer for Laika Studios' Missing Link, a stop-motion comedy that stars Zach Galifianakis (The Lego Batman Movie) as a good-natured Sasquatch —the role Galifianakis was born to play.
His existence is discovered by Hugh Jackman's Sir Lionel Frost, a monster explorer, who names the hairy beast "Mr. Link" and smartens him up in a suit and bow tie.
After many years of solitude in the Pacific Northwest, Link convinces Frost to take him to the mythical Shangri-La, where his Yeti relatives await. Aiding them on their journey is Zoe Saldana's Adelina Fortnight.

While not as ambitious-looking as Laika's last venture, Kubo and the Two Strings, Missing Link's trailer still gives off a unique charm all its own, courtesy of Laika's trademark (and painstaking) animation and a talented voice cast, which also comprises Timothee Chalamet, Emma Thompson, Stephen Fry, Timothy Olyphant, and Matt Lucas.
The movie is directed by Chris Butler, a storyboard artist on Coraline and co-director of ParaNorman. His other credits include features like Corpse Bride and The Tale of Despereaux. Travis Knight (director of Kubo and the upcoming Bumblebee) serves as producer alongside Arianne Sutner (KaBlam!, The Nightmare Before Christmas).

Astute cinephiles will note that this movie bears a passing resemblance to Warner Bros.' own animated offering, Smallfoot, which was released in late September and also made Abominable Snowmen a central part of the plot.
Missing Link stomps into theaters April 12.
