Meet Bobbie Draper
Here's your first look at one of the key players of The Expanse Season 2.
We recently announced that Frankie Adams will be playing the role of Bobbie Draper in the second season of The Expanse.
Well, here she is in costume, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.
Roberta 'Bobbie' Draper of the Martian Marines is a favorite of fans of the Expanse novels, making her first appearance in the second book, Caliban's War. While those familiar with the books know that the first season of The Expanse ended with about one-third of the first book, Leviathan Wakes, left to go, Bobbie definitely won't be making a late appearance in Season 2.
"You will meet her in the first three seconds of the show," revealed The Expanse showrunner Naren Shankar in an exclusive interview with EW. "She’s in the opener. We do pull things forward in the book, we've pulled things out of the novella, a lot of rearrangement of certain elements, but while respecting the overall plot framework of those books. We pulled her up."
Bobbie will be providing what Shankar believes was missing somewhat in the first season of The Expanse: a strong Martian perspective.
"We didn't really spend much time with the Martians and how they felt about Earth and felt about the Belt, and so what we are doing in Season 2 is giving a different view into the events of the story," said Shankar. "So we start with Bobbie and her team in Episode 1 ... [to] build characters, build the team camaraderie, build all of that Martian perspective that we had to pull back in Season 1 and bring that front and center into Season 2. That helps us frame the Earth, the Belt, and Mars."
The Expanse Season 2 commences in January 2017.
