How Hot Was #WayHaught: Season 3, Episode 2

Aside from the all of the demon-slaying, witty one-liners, and everyone's favorite doughnut-scarfing-crazy-chick-with-a-gun, Wynonna Earp Seasons 1 and 2 introduced us Wayhaught: the burgeoning relationship of Waverly and Nicole. There have been ups (the in flagrante pre-coital lift from 203. swayt jaysus) and there have been downs (Rosita in a hot tub. why hast thou forsaken us), but like any amazing rollercoaster we're screaming and shouting the whole way through.

In celebration of all things #WayHaught, we're going to chronicle their budding relationship in our continuing weekly series. We will answer the fundamental question that will be on your mind every Friday: How Hot Was WayHaught? Think of it like an episode recap, with pictures, and gifs, and all things #Wayhaught. 

Episode 2 featured a trapper that went 0-100 real quick, a Wynonna vision quest, and **sob** a tragic and heroic **steps out to buy a box of Franzia** farewell, to one **drinks that Franzia** of our beloved protagonists **slaps bladder of franzia in recognition of one's homies.**

1. Okay. This is going to be an emotional one gang, but we can get through it. Waverly gets abducted by this revenant trapper who has developed a taste for human flesh. Real Talk: really glad this dude was a revenant because otherwise he waited like 5 minutes before going full on Hannibal The Cannibal. I also may have peed a little when I heard Waverly's voice coming out of his mouth. He dun a bamboozle on Nicole!!!
   
   
   
   
    
2. Yup, we all went a little dead inside when Waverly got Little Mermaid Ariel'd and this Revenant scum was able to trick Nicole. It feels like he said "Nicole" too many times without throwing in a "baby", but I'm nitpicking. Also this post-vamp-glam thing that Waverly is rocking just works.
   
   
   
   
    
3. More on this later, but the fact that Nicole does things other than worry and dote on Waverly is a good thing. She kicks revenant ass, has a good and growing relationship with Dolls **sob**, and does a million other things that make her a well-rounded and dynamic character. And her complexion is dewy AF. She never forgets to moisturize.
   
   
   
   
    
4. Let's also take a moment to recognize how cool our leading men look too. Top. Shelf. You know that Jeremy is in the background right now being like ... Notice me senpai!!! Notice me!!!
   
   
   
   
    
5. ALERT!!! ALERT!! This is a pivotal turning point in the WayHaught relationship that needs proper analysis. After being rescued and given the traditional "I-just-went-through-some-real-shit-and-need-to-feel-comforted blanket" Waverly goes to Dolls for an all encompassing hug and not Nicole.  Ummmm.... wut? Hold tight...
   
   
   
   
    
6. Okay that's better. World order has been restored. Red heads do do it better. heh. doodoo.
   
   
   
   
    
7. But what's this cheeky little glance over at Wynonna? Is Waverly not getting all of the comfort she needs from Nicole? HARDLY!! OK, now gird your loins we're going in deep. I would argue that this episode is one of the most solidifying and powerful WayHaught episodes of all. Stay with me. Sure, making out, being flirty and romantic is what puts the hot in WayHaught, it's what gives us that nice sizzle in our hearts. But remember, WayHaught is endgame. There needs to be more to their relationship than just physical attraction (sure as hell doesn't hurt though). Ultimately what makes this episode powerful is that it's about family. The family you were born into and the family that you make for yourself. Both can hurt you, both can bolster you. This scene shows that Nicole and Waverly have strong emotional connections with people outside of their cute little Wayhaught bubble. Nicole doesn't get angry or jealous that Waverly seeks comfort with Dolls, or that she and her sister have some serious unresolved Mama Earp issues. She's there for her in whatever capacity she can be. And that, is romantic as hell. As Nicole puts it, screwing up is "...standard Earp operating procedure. 9. There are no words. I'm an emotional basket case whose soul has been battered, kicked, and beaten. The only silver lining to this plot twist is that Dolls went out protecting his fam: the family that he made for himself. There's also something oddly poetic about Wynonna and Waverly, still glammed, crimped and basically looking like kick-ass hot messes, lamenting Dolls with their mother watching over them. It reminds us of why we love this show, that through all of the witty repartee, quips, and raw haughtness; the show's emotional core is what brings us back week after week.
   
   
   
   
   
   VERDICT: 8/10 EMOTIONALLY STEAMY. I stand by my assessment that this episode marks a new chapter in the WayHaught saga. It's like our girls are moving on from puppy love to something more meaningful, emotionally grounded, and ... endgame.
