Cowabunga! The guy who plays Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is headed for a dystopian future.

Alan Ritchson, who's perhaps currently best known for his portrayal of the red-bandana-wearing, sai-wielding member of the Michael Bay-produced big-screen TMNT, has been cast in a lead role in Syfy's upcoming action series, Blood Drive.

Blood Drive centers around an underground death race in which the cars are fueled by human blood (!). Alan will play Arthur Bailey, a former cop turned private security operative trying to bring peace and order to a violent, dystopian future ... and who soon finds himself forced to participate in the deadly competition.

Arthur Bailey should not be confused with Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, the role Alan Ritchson played on Smallville. He also played Gloss in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Thad Castle in Blue Mountain State.

Production on the 13-episode Blood Drive commences in July.
