Ashley Cowie, the youngest Knight Officer in the Scottish Knights Templar, is an historian, lecturer and published author. Ashley's first book chronicles his discovery of a carving in Scotland's Rosslyn Chapel, which he claims to be the oldest carved map in Europe. His second book documents his analysis of the symbols in a 19th century painting entitled "Templar Knight in Rosslyn Chapel." That analysis helped reveal the entrance to a series of lost vaults inside Rosslyn Chapel, itself.
Ashley has written three subsequent books, to be published in 2011 and 2012, focusing on sacred symbols and lost ancient knowledge. Additionally, he has written multiple academic research papers and delivered several visual presentations and lectures at the International Science Festival. In 2002, Ashley was elected into the "Society of Antiquaries of Scotland," the oldest and most exclusive historical society in Europe. Founded by Royal appointment in 1732, this society currently holds only 3000 fellows.
Among his many television and radio appearances, Ashley is currently the resident historian on Scottish television's The Hour Show where he presents information on the origins of Scottish traditions.
