Marvel just dropped another bombshell regarding its Captain America sequel. Not only will it be subtitled The Winter Soldier, which alludes to the return of Bucky Barnes, but it will feature a new superhero addition—Falcon.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Anthony Mackie is in negotiations to join Chris Evans in the next Captain America. Marvel won't confirm the role, but sources close to the studio believe it's Falcon.
Falcon is one of the first African-American heroes to appear in a mainstream comic. The character debuted in Captain America #117, and was created by Stan Lee and Gene Colan. His civilian name is Sam Wilson, and he grew up in Harlem. With Bucky missing in action, Falcon has served as Cap's sidekick on more than one occasion.
Falcon "derives his powers from a suit that allows him to fly and enhances his strength. He can also telepathically talk to birds." Not to mention that he's a keen martial artist with some serious gymnastic abilities.
Mackie can be currently seen playing sidekick to the former president in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Do you think Mackie would make a good Falcon?
