The first season started amidst the zombie apocalypse, where prisoners were being experimented on in hopes of finding a zombie virus cure. One of them, Murphy, is bitten by zombies that raided the facility.
177001
One year later and Murphy, guided by Lt. Mark Hammond (played by Harold Perrineau from Lost), come upon a survivor's camp in upstate NY. Hammond reveals to the small group there that Murphy survived being bit by zombies - thus he is the key to a cure.
177006
Charles Garnett and Roberta Warren, two ex-military badasses in the group, agree to help Hammond transport Murphy to a lab in California that can harvest the cure.
177011
Just as they are leaving, the camp is overrun by zombies. Three other survivors - Addy, her boyfriend Mack and an older dude named Doc - join the journey to bring Murphy to CA.
177016
Along the way they encountered a teenager calling himself "10K" - a moniker he adopted because of his intention to kill 10,000 zombies.
177021
The gang soon encountered another survivor, Cassandra, who they helped free from a bunch of psycho cannibals (#zombieapocalypseprobems).
177026
Through all this, the group was aided by a military official calling himself "Citizen Z." The sole survivor of a Northern Canadian outpost, Citizen Z still had access to computer networks and communication devices that were still working. He'd intermittently connect with the survivors to help guide them to California.
177031
As the group made its way cross country, Murphy started to discover that a) he was decaying more, like a zombie and b) he had weird mind control powers that let him control zombies.
177036
When the gang upon a group of survivors that didn't allow men amongst them (led by Kelly McGillis), Addy decided to stay with them.
177041
When the survivors reached Colorado, they encountered Dr. Kurian, a total psycho that actually started the zombie virus. He was VERY interested in Murphy.
177046
Cassandra, who had been mortally wounded in an earlier scuffle, was about to die. Murphy did a quasi charitable thing and bit her, infecting her with the zombie virus.
177051
Introducing zombie Cassandra! She was now super strong, kinda crazy and totally under Murphy's control.
177056
The scuffle with Dr. Kurian happened at a military base, and the outfall was that a bunch of nukes got launched. Nuts, right?
177061
The nukes made their way up to Citizen Z's base where he realized he was probably gonna kick the bucket.
177066
The survivors, with very little time before a nuke dropped on their heads, tried to figure out how the hell they were going to not get blown up. Only Season Two holds the answer.
