Avatar sequels add Edie Falco as major villain
Not long after the second and third movies in the Avatar franchise wrapped principal filming, James Cameron’s long-coming follow-ups to his box office breakout have cast their first new major star.
Edie Falco, an Emmy winner for The Sopranos, will make a rare dip into genre as General Ardmore, the commander in charge of the RDA’s interests, according to the franchise’s official Facebook page.

And yes, of course Cameron weighed in:
Falco’s addition is the first major casting move by the films, which are filming in back-to-back lumps, since Kate Winslet’s role was announced back in 2017. After plenty of delays and a long filming process that signified what happens when you film two long and ambitious blockbusters in a row, Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 look like they’re really happening — though no word if Falco’s Ardmore will survive all the way until the planned fifth film. If she’s on RDA’s side, things might not turn out well.
Avatar 2 plans to debut in theaters on Dec. 18, 2020.
