The Book of Earth begins, heralding the arrival of Toph, in the teaser trailer for season two of Netflix's live-action take on the hit Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender (no relation to the James Cameron film franchise of the same name).

In the show's sophomore outing—which debuts in 2026—Avatar neophyte Aang (Gordan Cormier) continues his journey to master all four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, and Air) in order to defeat the belligerent Fire Nation and restore balance to the world.

After their pyrrhic victory saving the Northern Water Tribe from Fire Nation invaders, Aang, Katara (Kiawentiio Tarbell), Sokka (Ian Ousley), Appa, and Momo "regroup and set off on a mission to convince the elusive Earth King to aid in their battle against fearsome Fire Lord Ozai [Daniel Day Kim]," reads the official synopsis.

The group's arrival in the Earth Kingdom brings them face-to-face with Toph (Miya Cech), a blind Earth Bender with unparalleled mastery of the ground beneath her feet who ends up becoming Aang's teacher in all things rock and dirt-related.

When does the second season of Avatar: The Last Airbender come out?

Season two of Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender will premiere sometime in 2026 (a specific premiere date has yet to be announced). The show has already been renewed for a third and final season, which wrapped filming in November 2025.

“When we started working on season two, we gathered three forces: integrity, hope, and joy," writer and executive producer Christine Boylan told the official Netflix blog, Tudum. "And here we are almost three years later wrapping the end of production with an immensely talented and devoted team that met those ideals and exceeded them. I am eternally grateful to be part of this important, hilarious, action-packed team who is bringing this epic live action story to the world."
