Has Rick and Morty Found The New Szechuan Sauce Craze? "It's Our Wally World" (Exclusive)

Since season four, Rick and Morty has teased the idea of a wildly inappropriate theme park in outer space, whose mention has become a running gag the show may or may not pay off down the line.

Nearly a decade ago, the season two premiere of Rick and Morty kickstarted a wild cultural phenomenon centered around the limited edition Szechuan dipping sauce McDonald's released in tandem with Disney's Mulan. One could even go so far as to argue the craze is what propelled the hit Adult Swim series into the mainstream consciousness.

Seven seasons later, the show may have found a new gag around which fans can rally: Boob World.

Referenced several times since season four's "Rattlestar Ricklactica," the provocatively-named location is said to be a mammary-themed amusement park in outer space. A season later in "Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangelion," we learned that the park even has an official theme song: "Boob World! Boob World! It's a world for you, but it's actually two! Boob World!" The establishment also has its equivalent of Chuck E. Cheese tokens called "Boob Bucks."

The wildly inappropriate nature of Boob World has not gone unnoticed throughout the galaxy, with Rick explaining that it's "been at the center of a few protests every day for 30 years." In the hope of quelling the nonstop controversy, the park "rebranded as a boob empowerment experience, and if we bring a female we get in for free."

Worse, right? Definitely worse.

Unsurprisingly, though, the park became a fascination of the teenage, hormonal Morty (Harry Belden), whose dream of visiting Boob World has been derailed time and again by the stubborn whims of his grandfather, Rick (Ian Cardoni).

"Will they finally get there?" Cardoni mused over an exclusive interview with SYFY Wire. "This has become sort of the new Szechuan sauce, hasn't it? It would be great. I leave it to the writers to let us know if we'll ever get there, or if it will just be something we're constantly chasing."

The latest unsuccessful attempt to experience the bosom bonanza arrived in the third episode of season 9—"Rick Fu Hustle"—where Rick's refusal to exchange car insurance information with a lethal martial arts master dashed Morty's hopes once again.

Will Morty ever get to visit Boob World on Rick and Morty?

"It’s a good question," said co-showrunner and executive producer Scott Marder, who compared the running gag to the quest of the Grisworld family in National Lampoon's Vacation. "It's something we do explore down the line," he added. "It is a fun thing to dangle. It’s our Wally World."

Bleden, of course, is eagerly awaiting the day when the dream becomes a reality. "Oh man!" he exclaimed. "I hope so ... Can we all just go? Please! You're asking the real questions out here, and I appreciate that."

New episodes of Rick and Morty air on Adult Swim every Sunday at 11:00 p.m. ET.
