Supergirl Teaser: Milly Alcock Is Our Hungover Hero, Jason Momoa's Lobo Revealed
The first teaser for the Supergirl movie dropped ahead of its summer 2026 premiere, giving DC Comics fans their first look at Milly Alcock’s Kara Zor-El following her debut as Kal-El’s cousin—and Krypto’s mom—at the end of James Gunn’s Superman.

Five months after the House of the Dragon star first introduced fans to her Kara Zor-El, the Dec. 11 first look showed a lot more than the DC Comics character’s penchant for getting drunk on planets with red suns, as seen at the end of James Gunn’s Superman.
Speaking of David Corenswet's Man of Steel debut, it seems good boy Krypto will run amok more than ever in the Craig Gillespie-directed film, which has a premiere date of July 26, 2026.
The action-packed sneak peek (watched by more than 60,000 fans during its live premiere on YouTube) teases a galaxy-spanning trek for Superman’s cousin, who takes a job escorting Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley)—a young alien girl from one of the red stars that allows Supergirl to imbibe—as she hunts for the brutal cosmic criminal who killed her father, Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts).
And seems Supergirl's big bad is set to raise the bar for menacing villains following Nicholas Hoult's turn as Lex Luthor.
“Wait until you see how scary [Schoenaerts] is in the movie,” said Gunn, who’s also co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios, on the DC Studios Showcase podcast in June 2025. “Craig has really amped that character up. He’s so scary and creepy.”
After Gunn’s new role was announced in 2022, the Guardians of the Galaxy shepherd learned one DCEU veteran was ready to master both cinematic universes, following up his Aquaman run with a hard pivot to antihero Lobo—whose DCU debut was designated a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo in the teaser.
“Jason Momoa was truly one of the first messages I got,” said Gunn. “Just all caps. ‘LOBO, BABY.’ A billion exclamation points.”
Turned out, the Dune star’s excitement was years in the making, after first thinking he’d be donning the bounty signature black leather ensemble to face off against Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne.
“I have every Lobo comic. He was my favorite,” Momoa explained in March 2025 on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “I thought I was going to be playing Lobo when Zack Snyder called me, because it was Batman vs. Superman. They needed to have a villain in there.”
But the real need for Lobo would come later, according to Gunn, who teased how the character proved pivotal as his team crafted a traditional story structure out of writer Tom King’s vignette approach toward his 2022 Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow series.
“The truth is, in Woman of Tomorrow, the comic is very much a bunch of little stories,” said Gunn. “And we needed to create one throughline. One three-act story…Lobo helps us do that.”
“I think he’s maybe, in some ways,” he added, “the biggest comic book character that’s never been in a film.”
Rounding out the ensemble are David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham, who play Supergirl’s father, Zor-El, and mother, Alura In-Ze.
“I wanted [Supergirl] to be this little pixie-ish, but very attitudinal character,” Gunn revealed on the pod. “[Alcock] was the first person I brought up. And then, when we got her tape, I was like, ‘She’s pretty good.’”
Supergirl flies into theaters on June 26, 2026.
