SYFY's annual Twilight Zone marathon in honor of New Year's is getting an extra boost with an officially licensed design by horror-focused apparel company, Fright Rags.

"Every New Year’s Eve had its rituals," the company wrote on its official Instagram account Dec. 28. "Snacks on the table. TV glowing in the dark. One episode turns into five and suddenly it’s 3 a.m.. The New Year’s The Twilight Zone marathon wasn't just background noise. It was an annual tradition. This January 1 at 12 p.m. ET, we’re dropping a brand-new officially licensed The Twilight Zone design inspired by the marathon that hijacked our lives every new year."

The black and white graphic by artist Kyle Crawford shows two children transfixed by an old-fashioned television set playing the iconic anthology created by Rod Serling. Judging by the hypnotic spiral onscreen, it looks as though the youngsters are enjoying an episode from the show's third season, which included classic installments such as "To Serve Man," "It's a Good Life," "Nothing in The Dark," "The Dummy," "Little Girl Lost," "I Sing the Body Electric," "Kick the Can," and "Five Characters in Search of an Exit."

"There were a lot of key factors into the design," Crawford exclusively shared with SYFY WIRE. "With the license, there's lots of limitations of what can be used and not used. This one is actually not the full original version of the design. A few things needed to be taken out. So the key was, 'How can I present the spectacle of the event, with such restrictions?' Actors, likeness, episode names, quotes—just to name a few. I put myself in the position of a kid or viewer of that period of time, television being so pivotal and groundbreaking. The whole 'Don't sit too close to the TV, you'll rot your brain' trope. My goal was to sort of showcase a black and white version of a Norman Rockwell painting with an ominous vibe."

The project was a no-brainer for Fright Rags President and CEO Ben Scrivens, who added: "When I was younger, I always looked forward to the Twilight Zone marathons—whether they were on July 4th or New Year’s Day. To celebrate that tradition we thought it would be fun to create an officially licensed design that paid homage to the marathon on New Year's Day."
