Goddesses, Axl, Come in all Forms

This week’s episodes opens with a nice old lady gazing at the stars.

This tranquil moment, however is short lived.

My guess is that something mythic is afoot.

Olaf appears to agree.

So, the Johnson boys head out to granny’s funeral just in case her passing was a harbinger of the Frigg.

Looks like the boys aren’t the only ones to think that there’s more than death at this funeral.

Meanwhile Dawn has the unenviable task of holding down the fort at Anders’ place.

Lucky for her, Ty is more than willing to lend a hand.

Back at the post-funeral festivities, the gang all gets some vibes off of this bloke.

And a big guy with a hammer can only mean one thing: Thor. This might seem like exciting news, but incarnations of Thor have a tendency to be a bit unstable.

Having been found out, the god and goddesses make their introductions to the big guy with the hammer.

Who, upon hearing the name of his Lord Odin, takes immediately to his knees.

Doubting Axl’s claim, Thor, naturally, challenges “Odin” to a hammer-hurling contest.

He is proud to have downed a rabbit in the process.

Reluctantly, and unsure of his abilities, Axl joins in.

Turns out he had nothing to worry about, and Thor is glad to have been put to shame for doubting the word of the All Father.

Satisfied with Axl’s claim to dominion over the hosts of Asgard, Thor proudly proclaims his daughter to be the goddess Frigg. Yes, we all see that she’s a bit underwhelming- goddess status aside.

As it turns out her goddess status is inconclusive, as she is born of a mortal woman, and is therefore, according to prophecy, assuredly not the host to the goddess Frigg, she is pregnant by a mortal man –she hopes that Axl will claim the child- and, to add insult to injury she just doesn’t find Axl all that attractive. Suffice it to say, Thor will not be pleased by any of this.

Back at the hotel, with nothing better to do, Ingrid proposes a gathering of the Oracles over a bottle of Vodka.

Olaf sees her Vodka and hot tub invitation and raises the stakes with a joint.

This eventually leads to the entire Johnson-Goddess party being evicted from their hotel.

Meanwhile, in Auckland, Ty sourly presents tickets to a Sound of Music sing-a-long and peevishly complains to Mike that he is constantly friend-zoned and perhaps mistaken as a homosexual – the horror! #sarcasm

Turns out his concerns weren’t entirely unwarranted as Anders had told Dawn that Ty is indeed gay and had encouraged her to gift him the sing-a-long tickets.

Oh well, all’s well that ends well.

Spoke too soon, it hasn’t ended yet!

While everyone has been gallivanting naked and snogging, Axl is stuck at Thor’s table faced with the task of rejecting his beloved daughter, and the being that he believes is the key to unlocking his full godly power.

As expected, Thor doesn’t handle the news very well.

And the cavalry, Anders, isn’t much help in the matter!

Can’t say he didn’t have this coming his, karmically speaking and all.

Just as everything looks like it’s going to go the way of a Syfy Original movie, Axl man’s up, wields Thor’s hammer and commands the rogue god to stand down…and be a loving and supportive father to his daughter and grandfather to her unborn child. Oh, and to never cause trouble because the brothers Johnson will be back to check on him!

The episode ends on a tender note as Ty is revealed to have slept separately from dawn to avoid chilling her with his icy aura.

But not before getting in one last dig at Anders!
