WARNING: If you don't want to know what happened in this episode, don't read this photo recap!
If it were possible to discuss this episode without mentioning the opening scene, we would. But it is not, and so here we are with Scab and Ivory and the rest of the Sisterhood in the woods going through some sort of initiation rite. Only Scab can't join the Sisterhood without giving up his manhood so it's a good thing they all carry around these crude shears.
Meanwhile, Axel and friends are in their own part of the woods elsewhere (though not too far as we will learn), participating in some good old American violence. The San Francisco survivors haven't had to road trip through the apocalypse before, so they're not great at it. Case in point: they cook the food too early, attract a bunch of Daywalkers, and one of their number is turned. They lay down some serious hurt, though, so call it even.
Elsewhere, Sam and Felix are doing pretty well for themselves, just murdering and carrying on. Mohamad isn't faring quite as well. He's still very trapped in the underground bunker Sam left him in and he's been surviving off whatever mice happen to burrow their way inside. That's gonna change, though, because he's started to hallucinate an old friend, or maybe she's a ghost, and she's going to help him break out of his sad little prison.
Sam is being visited by a friend of his own, the woman in black who first appeared to him as a kid. She tells him that he has a grand destiny before him, but in order to get there, he has to kill the one he loves. Sam is upset, but kills Felix anyway, only that's not who she was talking about. Sam now has to go back to find and kill Mohamad.
While travelling down the road, Axel happens upon a group of stranded survivors with a flat tire. He offers to fix it and to help them get to Denver, but their leader says they're on their way to San Francisco to catch a boat to Hawaii. Axel insists and eventually comes to blows with the guy, offering anyone who wants to join his crew a place on the truck. Two women, including one who is very pregnant, follow.
Mohamad manages to pull an Evil Dead, digging his way out of the bunker and back into a world where dinner isn't always mice. But Cara won't let him eat just yet. She wants him to kill Sam. Good thing Sam is looking for him as well.
As they drive, Axel attempts to bond with the pregnant newcomer over candy bars, which seems to work, at least for now. But Denver isn't going to be safe for very long. Christina, who was turned in the raid at their camp, has informed the leader of the Daywalkers that there is a whole city full of people just waiting to be eaten. Now the Daywalkers have a new plan.
Or, we suppose they had a new plan. Ivory throws a bit of a wrench into things when she arrives at the Daywalker meeting, Sisterhood in tow, and kills their leader, taking control for herself. They're still going to go to Denver, but the rest of the Daywalkers are going to have to join the Sisterhood first, and you know what that means ... snip snip.
