Myka and Pete get blasted into an artifact manuscript of a noir novel by one of Myka's favorite authors, Anthony Bishop.

Jinks and Claudia manage to trick Artie to work on the latest case with them - classic cars have gone missing from locked garages and reappearing elsewhere without a scratch. But as soon as they arrive at their destination, Artie erratically waves around the Tesla. Maybe he's not quite ready for the field?

After finding Mr. Carson dead, Pete and Myka head to his house to inform his widow, but it's not the same woman! She says that the blonde that went to their office was probably a singer at the Indigo Club - her husband was sweet on her.

Pete and Myka catch up with "Mrs. Carson", whose real name is Lilly, and get the truth out of her - she was watching out for Carson, who she knew was in trouble after he crossed Indigo Club owner Barnabus, who hired Carson to find the elephant. Lilly's in love with the bartender - who's actually Anthony Bishop! Bishop sees them hounding his girl and warns them to stay away from her - or else.

After Artie fusses with Claudia's Tesla grenade and knocks her GPS device out of whack, Claudia must fix the device IN THE TRUNK OF THE CAR if they're going to catch the thief. Her dedication knows no bounds!

Claudia finds herself face-to-face with the thief and soon they're fist-to-fist. The fight with the thief almost becomes fatal, but Jinks and Artie arrive just in time. She gets away with one of the cars, but Claudia manages to snag one of the gloves.

After making sure Claudia's okay, Artie grabs one of the gloves and speeds away after the perp, leaving his protege and her bestie stunned. He drag races with the thief and wins, but Jinks, who's been tasked by Adwin Kosan to keep an eye on Artie, reports that the Warehouse Monsigneur might not be stable.

Pete and Myka come face-to-face with the killer - it's Rebecca Carson! She blasts Pete with the elephant and gets away. Myka narrowly manages to revive him, and the two head to the Indigo Club where Rebecca and Bishop are both going after Barnabus's money.

Myka, assured that Rebecca isn't also a real person, shoots the murderer down, allowing them all to go back to their lives. But in the phantasmic lives of Lilly and Bishop, that means spiriting off to Bora Bora to start a new life. Myka and Pete return to the real world and discover that the manuscript, once empty, is a complete book with a happy Bora Bora ending.
