WARNING: If you don't want to know what happened in this episode, don't read this photo recap!
And we're back in the fray. We pick up where we left off: with Meredith Gardner, aka Widow #1, busting into Nicole’s residence, and then busting up Nicole. She’s under the impression that Nicole is in possession of the last seal — which she’s not — and that they're alone — which they're not...
Waverly shows up to defend her girlfriend. And she's packing…two sticks. Strong sticks. There’s a massive fight, during which Nicole gets bitten by the Widow and poisoned with her fatal venom. Waverly, concerned for Nicole, is too distracted to stop Mercedes from escaping.
The fallen soldier is rushed to the hospital. Maybe these docs can do something about the venom currently coursing through her veins. Waverly is understandably distraught. She might lose her gf!
Waverly knows the prognosis isn't good, and has a panic attack outside. There, she's approached by Widow #2, Beth, who tells her that human doctors are helpless in the situation. She, however has the antidote that can save Nicole's life. The price? Waverly has to get the last seal from her sister and give it to her.
The whole Black Badge brain trust has gathered in the hospital to put their heads together. Jeremy is thinking that if he can get his hands on some more Widow spit, he could synthesize an antidote. But where are they gonna get Widow spit…? Either recent Widow prey...or the Widows themselves. Because they don't sell that stuff at Trader Joe's!
Meanwhile, Waverly returns to Nicole's room to find a new doctor in attendance. But Shay isn't Nicole's doctor. She's her wife! Sheriff Nedley phoned Haught's estranged next of kin out of professional obligation. Waverly is in a doubly awkward situation, now. She made a venom-filled adulterer out of Nicole.
Dolls goes scavenging for some still-warm Widow prey, but finds that Ewan and the Brotherhood have already finished cremating the bodies of their fallen brethren at the teeth of the fatal sorceresses. It's not all bad news: Ewan gives Dolls back the crested plate they took from him and Wynonna. Apparently it's a weapon. Deadly frisbee? We'll see.
Wynonna drops in on Rosita at Shorty's and asks (well, asks emphatically) that she help Jeremy concoct the antidote — or else she's gonna become Revenant-infused wormfood.
Rosita helps by acting as Jeremy's guinnea pig to test out the effectiveness (and safety) of the serum.
Meredith has abducted Sherrif Nedley thinking that maybe he knows where the last seal is. And he just might. But he's not talking. No matter how much torture she puts him through. Are we going to get all Reservoir Dogs up in this barn? Maybe…?
Dolls swoops into the Black Badge lab, where he finds Jeremy’s plan…faltering. He has a different one: Waverly gets the ring from Wynonna, hands it over to Beth in exchange for the serum. But wait, there’s more. Meanwhile, Jeremy will inject Dolls with more venom to turn him into a super-lizard monster. After Beth cures Nicole and raises Sheriff Clootie from the grave, he’ll be waiting for them all.
Nicole's condition is worsening, and Waverly is frantic. She makes a deal with the Iron Witch's sister, Gretta (of course her name's Gretta) hoping that she can help her. Gretta uses her magic sight to locate the thing that will help save Nicole, for which she makes Waverly promise her anything her heart desires. It's all very vague, and Gretta likes it that way.
Waverly follows the address Gretta gave her to Sheriff Needley's office…and straight into his coffee mug. There's no coffee in it, but there is the last seal. Decaf. Waverly's got the ring…what is she going to do with it?
Meanwhile, Doc and Wynonna have tracked down the Sheriff and Widow Meredith, and put that horsepower to good use.
Doc does a sweet roll over the hood of the truck, and opens all kinds of cans of whoop-ass on the Widow. Then Wynonna shoots her in the leg with Peacemaker, and Doc ties her up. It's a full day's work, for sure.
Wynonna uses a mega needle to extract some precious Widow spit from Mercedes's glands. Yum.
But it looks like that was all for naught because Nicole is all better! But wait. How? Oh, Waverly, you didn't…she did. And Wynonna isn't happy. With the ring in her possession, Beth can now release Clootie from his prison. Dang.
Remember that trophy that can grant wishes but also lets loose an organ-hungry demon? That's what Gretta wants. She casts a spell on the trophy, which, get this: makes Doc and Wynonna disappear. Not only that, but everyone who once knew them forgets they ever existed. It's super existential.
And Doc ends up again in this well again. Oh, well.
