As the team travel to get Murphy to California, they stop in Pennsylvania to use the bathroom and kill some Amish zombies.
10K is troubled. He tells the team about having to kill his own father during Black Summer.
The team comes across a group of zombies who aren’t really zombies! They’re truck thieves!
And Roberta is left to drive everyone in a rusted out VW Punch buggy.
Meanwhile, in the listening station, Citizen Z finds Addy’s Facebook page and begins an imaginary relationship with her. Also, Facebook still exists after the zombie apocalypse.
This is sort of the best picture of this team ever, and while they eventually ditch the VW, we secretly hoped that they’d make all the way through the rest of the series in this car.
This family turns out to be holding up the thieves who stole the team’s truck. And these kids pull guns on everyone. The zombie apocalypse is a rough place!
Finally when the team comes across zombies eating the family with guns, they realize that the time has come – they really have to get off the road.
Through some very amazing NSA technology, the team communicates with Citizen Z via a drive thru camera.
When it turns out the only hope of getting to California could be a helicopter at the Emergency Headquarters for Infection Control, the team race there.
They’re stopped of course; by a drug addict guard who takes all of their painkillers in one gulp.
After sending Doc up to see The General, we all learn that the guy running this place is just plain nuts.
The General throws Doc down and airshaft after freaking out over his bleak diagnosis. And Doc hangs with this zombie for a while.
So Doc does what anyone would do – he lights up a joint and shares it with a zombie.
In flashback, 10K agrees to give his father mercy when he dies. Boy, that can’t be easy.
Murphy, ever scared of zombies and enclosed spaces, freaks out and runs out of the elevator, foiling just about everyone’s plans.
As Roberta and Charles go and look for Murphy, Cassandra, Addy and Mack are attacked in the elevator and kill a zombie.
Many zombie killings later, the team is approached by an even bigger zombie.
Addy to the rescue. After pulling the pin on this giant zombie’s grenade, she tosses him down an airshaft. Uh-oh! The same one Doc was in!
Everyone takes a second to mourn the death of Doc.
When the team arrive on the top floor, the unhinged and completely (conveniently?) unpredictable General pulls a bazooka on them and then takes the to the helicopter.
The helicopter isn’t going to do anyone very much good; it’s in such a state of disrepair.
Zombies get the General, and the team decides to get back on the road to California.
When Zombie Doc appears, Roberta agrees to give him mercy. But luckily she misses, because Doc is alive!
Finally, Doc has a heart to heart father-son moment with 10K, and the team keeps heading west.
