The trek to Pacifica means: Hands up! Warren, George, CZ and Doc are on the trek to find Dante and others. So why are talkers being killed, and who has found them? Hands up!
Oh thank God - they are friends. It's Pacifica resident Professor Henry McCabe, who knows George as a fellow survivor and Warren as their savior during Black Summer. Turns out, patrols are way up and things are not going well. The Pacifica peace and harmony plan for humans and talkers is under duress since the bombing...
Kisses all around for a family reunion. CZ shows off his little one and reunites with Kaya. Bonus: Warren and Doc get to meet the fam. Maybe they can answer where everyone else is in Pacifica, because the enclave's dining hall is mysteriously empty.
Still in Altura, Red and Sun Mei comfort 10K about his hand. They tell him it's healing well, but he's not having it.
Turns out, there is a town hall that is "humans only." The community is in conflict. Half the population wants to quarantine Talkers. Warren is not having it, and she gives a speech about how fear is a virus of its own. George follows up and some townspeople seem to turn back to their open society. Let's build a new world! She asks the citizens to sleep on it and resume the debate tomorrow.
A skittish Warren takes night watch while George and Doc sleep. She hears a noise, so she and Doc investigate: Roaming the halls and ready to pounce. What's the rumpus? The talkers are gone. All of them. Every one.
Back in Altura, 10K is sad about both Sarge's death and his missing hand. Turns out, there are prosthetic options. Maybe not the one with ladyfingers and nail polish, though. It feels off-brand.
So, what is Estes' deal, anyway? He is on board with the hunt for Dante, and is demanding the quarantine of talkers. He also has deemed himself "judge" in this society. And he is skulking around Sun Mei, asking about her research trying to discover the difference in brain chemistry between the conscious, talker Zs and pure zombies. Which she is being cagey about. Definite sketch vibes coming off of Estes, and rattling Sun Mei.
The talker underground -- whatever that is -- seems to be using this symbol as a code. Three points and red. Looks familiar…
The exploration for the escaped talkers ends as Pacifica is now under attack. Explosions and "so many zombies." Who - or what - is responsible for this?
Well crap. It looks like it might just be Dante, leading a group of escaped talkers. Dammit.
And in this chaos: Citizen Z, who has now survived two bombings in seemingly as many days. What's next?! And where the heck is Murphy?
