Things are in full swing on Syfy's Channel Zero as the cast of the first season of the horror anthology series has been officially announced, courtesy of Variety.

The close-ended first season is based on Kris Straub’s online short story, Candle Cove, centering on one man’s recollection of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980s and his suspicions about the role it might have played in a series of nightmarish events from his childhood.

Paul Schneider (Parks and Recreation) will star as Mike Painter, a child psychologist who was a child himself when he witnessed the disappearance of his twin brother, Eddie, and four other children from their small town of Iron Hill in 1988. Years later, he is compelled to return to his hometown to investigate what really happened.

Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter's Petunia Dursley) will appear as Marla Painter, Mike's mother, who is shocked when her son returns to his hometown and is reluctant to dredge up the mysterious and tragic events of the past.

The cast also includes Shaun Benson (The Girlfriend Experience; Syfy's Defiance: The Lost Ones) as Gary Yolen, Iron Hill's sheriff and Mike's childhood friend; Natalie Brown (Syfy's Bitten and Being Human) as Jessica Yolen, Mike's childhood friend and the sheriff's wife; and Luisa D'Oliveira (The 100) as Amy Welch, the sheriff's young deputy.

The six-episode Channel Zero: Candle Cove will premiere in Fall 2016.
