Syfy has found an official tester for its Prototype.

Jack Davenport, recently seen as the doomed Lancelot in Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014, see pic above), has signed on to play a lead role in the upcoming thriller series centering on three people that discover an invention that questions the very nature of quantum physics ... and puts their lives in grave danger.

Jack will portray Eddy Conway, a former Silicon Valley genius who has retreated from the tech world and found solace in academia as a physics professor. Eddy's vices, including coeds and sports cars, have put him in contact with some unsavory characters over the years, but his latest endeavor could prove to be his riskiest yet.

The pilot for Prototype was written by Tony Basgallop (24: Live Another Day) and is set to be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), per our pals at Deadline. No premiere date has been set, so stay tuned for any official announcements.

Jack Davenport is perhaps best known for his role as the villainous Admiral Norrington in the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. His television credits include Breathless (2013), Smash (2012-2013), Flashforward (2009-2010) and Swingtown (2008).
