Krypton: Superman Comes to Syfy
That's an official green light for the DC pilot.
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's ... Superman on Syfy!
That's right, the Man of Steel is heading this way ... or at least his grandfather is, as Syfy has officially given the green light (Krytonite green!) to the DC prequel series, Krypton.
Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of Superman's homeworld and will focus on his grandfather as he fights to redeem the shamed and ostracized House of El. The show will be executive produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), who will also write the script for the pilot with Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time). Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow) will serve as showrunner.
In several comic book stories, Superman's grandfather is referred to as Jor-El I, the father of Kal-El's father, Jor-El. Whilst Jor-El has been portrayed in live-action adaptations by Robert Roxwell (Adventures of Superman), Marlon Brando (Superman and Superman II), David Warner (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman), Terrence Stamp, Tom Welling and Julian Sands (Smallville) and Russell Crowe (Man of Steel), Grandpa has never made a flesh-and-blood appearance on the big or small screen before. Let the dream casting begin!
