Crash Course Astronomy: M-O-O-N, That Spells MOON
Some may think the Moon a coldhearted orb that rules the night, but for me, the Moon will always be the first step to the rest of the Universe.
It’s the closest object in space to us, with features big enough to examine and be curious over. Why are some dark, some light? Why does it look so big in the sky, and what’s on the other side, forever hidden from us who are Earthbound?
And this is what I love about astronomy, about science: We can find out. Come find out with me, in this week’s episode of Crash Course Astronomy: The Moon.
If you’re curious to find more information about some of the topics in that video, I’ve written about the Moon many, many times. Here are a few articles about the ideas covered in that episode:
- Why Do We Have a Two-Faced Moon?
- Why Does the Moon Look So Huge on the Horizon?
- Water on the Moon … ? Yes, It’s Real
… and just for fun: - What If … the Moon Orbited at the Same Height as the ISS?
- Conspiracy Revealed: The Simpsons Has Been Lying to You
P.S. If you don’t get the title of this article, then go read Stephen King’s The Stand. It’s my favorite book of his.*
