WIRE Buzz: SYFY's 'SurrealEstate' sets cast; The Witcher augmented reality; Magic teaser

The Witcher: Monster Slayer

SYFY’s upcoming horror/drama SurrealEstate, a scripted series about a team of haunted house real estate agents, has found its paranormal homesellers.

The 10-episode series from showrunner George Olson looks to ease the restless spirits of the various houses on their dockets: think Ghostbusters meets HGTV. According to a release, Tim Rozon, Sarah Levy, Adam Korson, Maurice Dean Wint, Savannah Basley, and Tennille Read have been cast as the series’ regulars.

Rozon (of SYFY’s Wynonna Earp and Schitt’s Creek) will lead the way as Nick Roman, owner of The Roman Agency, while his Schitt’s Creek co-star Levy is mega-broker (and skeptic) Susan Ireland. The rest of the team is comprised of Korson’s researcher Father Phil Orley, Wint’s tech whiz August Ripley, and Basley’s office manager Zooey L’Enfant. They’re all going to need to help Read’s Megan Donovan, a medical student whose newly inherited house is almost definitely haunted.

SurrealEstate starts production on Sept. 15 in Newfoundland, Canada.

Next, The Witcher is entering our reality. Kind of. The fantasy series that’s become a beloved video game series and hit Netflix show is adding an augmented reality app to its arsenal.

The Witcher: Monster Slayer is on its way to mobile devices from Spokko, which is a subsidiary of the main Witcher games’ CD Projekt. Basically, it’ll work like the Harry Potter or Pokémon AR games, where gamers will need to roam the real world to take on monsters. Fans even got a little teaser trailer to get them hyped.

Take a look:

The pre-Geralt game looks to be set in the Witcher-verse and tackle the same fantastic RPG elements: potions and oils, monsters and demons, quests and stories. For specifics, however, fans will have to wait—and keep checking on the game’s official site.

The Witcher: Monster Slayer hits iOS and Android this fall.

Finally, it’s almost time for some new Magic. Throw down some mana and get ready to swing for the face: Magic: The Gathering's Zendikar Rising is almost upon us.

The classic card game has a deep and extensive lore that adds plenty of flavor to its new expansions, with the latest looking to explore a plane known as a powerful source of mana. Here’s a brief teaser for the set.

Check it out:

More information on Magic: The Gathering's Zendikar Rising will be released on Sept. 1 on the game’s Twitch channel.
