Yes indeed, SYFY's Wynonna Earp was saved thanks to its adoring fans and will receive a fourth season. With no Earp curse on its titular star's shoulders, the show's characters are freed up to whoop a lot of supernatural rump now that IDW Entertainment has finally come around to joining SYFY in producing another season. “It’s like a fairy tale come true,” Andras told SYFY WIRE. “A fairy tale with demons and feminist cowgirls.” And what better place to address the confirmation than at San Diego Comic-Con?

SYFY WIRE attended the show's celebratory panel, which featured stars Melanie Scrofano, Katherine Barrell, Chantel Riley, Greg Lawson, and Michael Eklund speaking with executive producer/showrunner Emily Andras and comic book creator Beau Smith. There was a massive group cosplay photo session with all the Earpers, and that was just one of the many ways the show paid its respects. But first we saw a hilarious blooper reel that additionally shouted out its fans on Twitter and the many, many, many hashtags used to fight for its return. Fans got the show back, and the show knows it.

Andras gave a heartfelt thanks to the fandom (“It’s even better the second time around”) before a video message from those from the show that couldn't make it played. And you bet it got weepy:

Scrofano then immediately dove into her trepidation about using a sword, while Smith addressed the mysterious Valdez whose name turned up at the end of last season. The princess/warrior from the Mayan heyday, she's a comic book character described by Smith as a Spock/Xena crossover. As for her appearance in the show ... it's still up in the air. But one thing's for certain: The curse is gone. Scrofano explained that it was difficult to move on from this change, since sometimes "people define themselves by their problems." But the panel was full of discussions about what could come from the next season, even if they were joking predictions about weddings changing the admittedly dour vibe of the homestead. Many old characters were bandied about; none were confirmed to return (not even the lost Waverly -- come on!), but hopes remain high.

We don't know when Wynonna Earp will return, but we do know it will.
