Episode Recap: February 5, 2015
Tonight's SmackDown kicked off with a new episode of everyone's favorite talk show, Miz TV. The guests? Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan, who were ready and raring for The Awesome One to stir the pot as they prepare for their upcoming match at WWE Fastlane on Feb. 22.
(And there's a lot riding on that Fastlane match, as last Monday on Raw, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon made the announcement that Roman Reigns' spot in the main event at WrestleMania 31 will be on the line as he gets in the ring with Bryan.)
Actually, Miz TV never happened, as before The Awesome One could ask a single question, Reigns blasted him with a Superhuman Punch, effectively 'canceling' the episode. Reigns and Bryan then faced off, looking like they might not wait for Fastlane to get it on, until they were interrupted by Seth Rollins. Still sore over his defeat by Bryan at Raw (for which he blames Reigns), The Future of the WWE informed The Bearded One that he would take on himself and J&J Security in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match later in the evening.
Meanwhile, all eyes were on Gold & Stardust to see if the former Tag Team Champions, who seem to be in different galaxies lately, could regain some of that old starry magic when they took on Dolph Ziggler & Ryback in a massive tag team contest. It seemed to be going well until Goldust referred to his brother as 'Cody,' after which Stardust tagged him in and walked away from the match, allowing Ziggler to kick his remaining opponent and Ryback to deliver Goldust's ultimate defeat via Shell Shock.
Insisting that he should headlining WrestleMania since he was never eliminated from Royal Rumble, Curtis Axel took on Dean Ambrose. However, the Lunatic Fringe quickly silenced his outspoken opponent via Dirty Deeds.
Meanwhile, Adam Rose became enraged and attacked his own Rosebuds after they failed a trust fall just before his match with Fandango. Rose's anger made him sloppy, as he fell to Fandango's finishing manuever, the Last Dance.
Speaking of enraged, The Miz didn't take too kindly to Roman Reigns' sudden attack on Miz TV and challenged The Big Dog to a SmackDown match. Reigns humiliated The Awesome One once again as he delivered a powerful Superman Punch/Spear combination.
Following a backstage talk with John Cena on Monday night's Raw, Erick Rowan seemed ready to knock out Rusev, but The Super Athlete's pre-match attack left Rowan laid out. Tonight, the two 300-plus-pound Superstars met again, with Rowan determined to block his opponent's road to WWE Fastlane. Rowan fell once again to the United States Champion, sending a powerful message to Cena.
On Monday night's Raw, the Bella Twins and Alicia Fox humiliated British beauty Paige by covering her with tanning spray. Tonight, the Diva of Tomorrow delivered her vengeance upon at least one of her attackers when she defeated Alicia in the ring. Look for Paige to challenge Nikki Bella for the Divas Title at WWE Fastlane.
Finally, Daniel Bryan took on Seth Rollins and J&J Security in a brutal 3-on-1 Handicap Match. The Bearded One was a sight to behold as he sent Rollins and Nobel flying, finally making Joey Mercury tap out to his "Yes!" lock. However, Bryan had little time to celebrate his victory, as he was soon attacked from behind by Kane, setting up a 4-on-1 assault that ended with Rollins delivering a mighty Curb Stomp.
