Exclusive: Old and new deities collide in Dark Horse's American Gods The Moment of the Storm
Centered around the explosive clash of ancient and modern deities, the second season of Starz's American Gods, based on the Hugo, Nebula, and Locus Award-winning fantasy novel from acclaimed fantasy writer Neil Gaiman, just launched last week and the sparks are already flying.
To accompany the epic chaos, Oregon-based Dark Horse Comics is poised to roll out the final arc of its electrifying American Gods ongoing comics series next month in a climactic confrontation that will leave the world forever changed and SYFY WIRE has been blessed with an early look at its provocative pages.
American Gods: The Moment of the Storm #1 arrives on April 17 and begins the final arc in Dark Horse's absorbing, bestselling series adapted from Gaiman's earth-shattering book and the popular premium cable TV series.
Written by Neil Gaiman and P. Craig Russell, with art duties performed courtesy of P. Craig Russell and Scott Hampton, the title's plot unspools as new and old gods agree to rendezvous in the heartland of America to exchange the body of the old gods' fallen leader, which kicks off the opening act heading toward the inevitable god war.
This is the third entry in the ambitious American Gods Saga comic series from Dark Horse, which began in 2017 with American Gods: Shadows, then last year's American Gods: My Ainsel.
"Craig, Scott, Jennifer, Rick, and I have tried as best as possible to capture Neil's vision of the novel in graphic novel format," Series Editor Daniel Chabon tells SYFY WIRE. "It is truly a labor of love for us all and we hope that all of Neil's fans, new and old, find something unique and enjoyable in this adaptation."
