Everyone's favorite crude improviser (emphasis on "crude") is back in the first NSFW teaser trailer and first look images for Peacock's long-awaited MacGruber TV series. Inspired by the Saturday Night Live skits and subsequent 2010 film adaptation (both a parody of MacGyver), the show will officially premiere on the streaming platform Thursday, Dec. 16.

Will Forte returns as the titular character — a quick-thinking, foul-mouthed, and disgraced agent of the U.S. government who is currently spending a 40-year sentence in prison without any chance of parole following the death of Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer) at the very end of the movie.

Taking the form of a 60 Minutes and/or Dateline-esque interview segment, the teaser informs us that MacGruber is currently estranged from his wife, Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig), and eagerly awaiting the day when the American people will call on his services to save the day once again. Turns out that day is just around the corner.

Watch the trailer below (please note that it contains content that may not be suitable for viewers under the age of 18; a clean cut can be found here):

Set 10 years after the events of the film, MacGruber's foray onto the small screen finds the self-described "uber patriot" released from jail and reunited with his old teammates — Vicki and Dixon Piper (Ryan Phillippe) — in order to take down a baddie from MacGruber's past: Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth (Titanic's Billy Zane).

Sam Elliott (Perry), Laurence Fishburne (General Barrett Fasoose), Joseph Lee Anderson (Major Harold Kernst), and Timothy V. Murphy (Constantine Bach) round out the ensemble cast. Mickey Rourke (Iron Man 3, The Wrestler) was added to the cast over the summer, but his name is curiously missing from the latest press announcement.

Forte serves as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer alongside John Solomon and Jorma Taccone (the latter two are also directors, with Taccone having helmed the movie). Lorne Michaels, John Goldwyn, Andrew Singer, and Erin David are executive producers.

"It’s a really fun character to do because it’s such an absurd guy and it’s really fun to say stupid stuff," Forte said during an interview with Uproxx in May of 2020. "But the main part of it is just the group of people that we get to work with. Everybody’s so good at what they do. But more than that, they’re fun, awesome people. Even when the movie was just sh—ing the bed, we were already thinking about doing another one. We were like, this is just too wonderful a collection of people. I want to have them back in my lives for another couple of months. So, why not, you know?"
