Jack Reacher is back and this time around, he's played by Alan Ritchson. One of the breakout cast members of Titanswhere he played the vigilante known as Hawk — Ritchson takes over the character from none other than Tom Cruise, who played Reacher in a pair of movies released in 2012 and 2015, respectively. This latest adaptation of the book series penned by Lee Child takes the form of a television show (simply titled Reacher) that will premiere on Amazon Prime Video at the start of 2022.

Based on Killing Floor (Child's first Jack Reacher novel published in 1997), the show follows the former military police investigator as he helps a small Georgia town solve its first murder case in two decades. He kind of has no choice in the matter once the cops arrest him for the crime, pointing to a plethora of incriminating evidence. However, the true killer will soon find out that they messed with the wrong guy once Jack sets out on a ruthless path to prove his own innocence.

Ritchson more than proved he has the action chops in Titans for a role like this, and though we'll miss the Hawk costume, it's nice to know he's still out there kicking butt in a new show after his untimely Titans exit.

Ritchson described the opportunity to step into the role as "overwhelming" during an interview with Reel Talker earlier this year.

"It's one of the highest-selling book franchises of all time," he said. Those are big shoes to fill. And then you throw in Tom [Cruise], who I can only express gratitude for what he did. He brought even more eyes to this and despite his stature ... he still carried the weight of what this series represents. Who else could've pulled that off? I don't know. It's remarkable what he did and I think he opened the door for a lot more people to enjoy Jack Reacher because of his work. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little intimidated, stepping into a role that 110 million people already have an idea as to who you are."

The cast also features Malcolm Goodwin (iZombie) as Oscar Finlay, Willa Fitzgerald (The Goldfinch) as Roscoe Conklin, Chris Webster (Most Dangerous Game) as KJ, Hugh Thompson (Blessed Stranger: After Flight 111) as Baker, Maria Sten (Swamp Thing) as Frances Neagley, Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) as Jasper, Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) as Charlie, Currie Graham (Murder in the First) as Kliner Sr., Marc Bendavid (Dark Matter) as Hubble, Willie C. Carpenter (Devious Maids) as Mosley, Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) as Young Reacher, and Bruce McGill (My Cousin Vinny) as Mayor Teale.

Nick Santora (Scorpion, Prison Break) serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner via his overall deal with Skydance Television. Child, Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost are also executive producers.

Reacher premieres on Amazon Prime Video Feb. 4, 2022.
