Van Helsing's final season threatens a dangerous cave collapse in teaser for Episode 8

By Josh Weiss
Van Helsing Season 5 Episode 8 hero

While Jack (Nicole Munoz) returned to the present in this week's installment of Van Helsing's fifth and final season, the main crew still ended the episode a member short when Julius (Aleks Paunovic) sacrificed himself and tragically died in Violet's (Keeya King) arms. We're not crying — some of Julius's blood splattered into our eyes. What? Too soon?

Anyway, our heroes barely have time to grieve the death of their fallen comrade as the team resolves to take out of the Dark One (Tricia Helfer) once and for all. Easier said than done because Jack, Violet, Ivory (Jennifer Cheon), and Axel (Jonathan Scarfe) face being buried alive in the teaser for Episode 8 (titled "Deep Trouble"). Note to self: Don't discharge a firearm in an old, abandoned mine.

"This show, as you're doing it, you're grinding it out and there's ups and downs, and the challenges that you face. Then you turn around and five years have gone by and the thing's coming to a close," Scarfe remarked during a virtual discussion with Starry Constellation Magazine in April. "Yeah, you definitely do get a little bit nostalgic, thinking, 'Oh, gee whiz, this is it — this is goodbye to all these people that have become family and this character that's kind of become a second skin.' It definitely had a little melancholy to it, for sure, when we came to a close."
