WIRE Buzz: Zack Snyder's Justice League drops teaser; Eternals comic trailer; First PS5 ad

Zack Snyder's Justice League

Zack Snyder, master of the teaser and leak, has given Justice League fans another tantalizing glimpse at his upcoming cut of the legendary DC film. After Joss Whedon took over the production, fans immediately started petitioning for a version in line with Snyder’s vision. Now, thanks to Warner Bros. and HBO Max, they’re getting one.

Ahead of what many assume to be a trailer release this weekend, Snyder posted the teaser (for the teaser) on his social media:

There’s not much here — Superman and Cyborg highlighted before the team-up’s various feet arrange themselves in a line — but it’s enough to whet fans’ appetites.

Especially since these are two characters whose stories could vary significantly in the new version. And thankfully, this clip is nice to look at; Darkseid’s appearance and other cut material has been pretty grainy so far. Looks like the team has been working in the post-production booth for a while.

Fans can find out more when Snyder hosts a Justice League panel at the DC FanDome on Saturday.

Next, fans might not yet have a trailer for the upcoming MCU film Eternals, but they can feast on some new footage about those same characters thanks to an upcoming comic following the legendary heroes.

Eternals, a new comic series coming this fall from writer Kieron Gillen (Uncanny X-Men) and artist Esad Ribić (Secret Wars) released a first teaser that, if anything, makes it clear that Marvel had connective tissue planned with the Chloé Zhao film. Alas, the movie has been delayed to 2021, but the series is still on its way — and looking pretty awesome, at that.

Check it out:

Crystals, gods, space! What’s not to like?

"This is me teaming up with literally my favourite artist of the epic, taking one of those lightning-storm Kirby visions and re-making it to be as new as the day it was forged,” Gillen said. “There's enough scale packed in here that I believe that when you look at the comic, you'll see the pages slightly bulge. Essentially 'Eternal' has to mean 'never going out of style,' which means we're aiming for 'instant classic.' Also — fight scenes, horror, human drama, emotions, explosions."

Eternals #1 hits stores this November.

Finally, the first next-gen console commercial has hit TV and it’s all about the PlayStation 5’s new technology...probably.

The ad — which features a crazy frozen lake, jungle explosion, cave monster, and more mania that definitely has something allegorical to do with hardware — is certainly intriguing and does make viewers think about the ideas of touch and sound. As the lead character in Parasite would say, this is a very “metaphorical” teaser.

Take a look:

PlayStation 5 – Play Has No Limits

The footage “showcases the haptic feedback sensation you can feel from DualSense wireless controller for the PS5 console,” writes Sony Vice President of Global Marketing Mary Yee on the official PS5 blog. Yee also highlights the “DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive triggers” that would be felt in the bowstring and “Tempest 3D AudioTech” that gives a surround-sound feel.

Rather than actually showing someone play a game, Sony is going for a more cinematic, “immersed in the game” kind of thing to demonstrate its advanced sensory systems. And a handful of developers in that same blog post touch on how the controller will enhance their games — but sadly none confirm that a kraken will jump out of the frozen north. Shame.

The PS5 is set to come out this holiday season. No word yet on an exact date, or price point.
