"Back in Black" by OurLadyofPerpetualWallflowers

Someone’s crying.

The floor under Billy is solid, cool to the touch but not cold. Everything had been cold for so long, ice in his veins and weighing down his limbs. He couldn’t remember the last warm thing he’d touched except- the girl. With the dark eyes. She’d touched him. In that place, that dark empty place where he went whenever that thing took over. She’d taken his hand and asked him something, what was it?

"without a flashlight in the dark" by jurassicqueer (gaybirdkid)

The lights go out. Steve keeps his eyes fixed just left of the thing, can just barely make out a shoulder and sort-of head in the light of the moon, and tries to swallow back the sickening feeling of being hunted. He wants to run for his house but he can’t. He can’t, because if he takes his eyes off the thing for even a second, he won’t know where it is, and that’s scarier than seeing it.

Or: Steve Harrington gets dragged into the Upside Down instead of Barb Holland. Someone else comes out.

"Party Reunited" by lady_oneder

The party has split, but they all got their chance to say tearful goodbyes. Joyce and Jonathan try convincing Will and El that this is a chance for a fresh start, but they don't account for the fact that neither of them are very good at making friends. It doesn't help that both of them are being bullied at their new school. But they did plan to go back for Thanksgiving, didn't they?

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Peter Parker has a lot of feelings in Spider-Man: Far From Home, what with Iron Man being dead, his being snapped back into the world and in search of a father figure in Mysterio... which, spoilers, maybe wasn't such a great idea. He's not even graduated high school yet, for pity's sake. However, it seems most Spidey fans are angst machines, so if you're looking to twist that knife in your heart just a little more, here's a nice selection of sob-inducing fics for you to enjoy.

"Five(+) People Who Helped Peter When He Needed It Most" by TheSecretUchiha

When Peter really needs help, people are lining up to offer it to him.

"Out of Darkness" by seekrest

“I need to do something."

"You don’t have to take this. Peter. If you run, it'll make everyone think he's right."

"I'm not running."

She stops, Peter taking in her shocked face. "Peter, what are you thinking?"

Peter looks into her eyes. He bites his lip.

“Do you trust me?”

"Fire sparking fire, the flames never die" by teenwolf24

Unable to distinguish illusion from reality, injured and uncertain, Peter meets Happy onboard the Stark jet in the tulip field. Feeling like the events with Mysterio and the EDITH glasses prove he’s incapable of being a good hero, Happy reveals that Tony left him some final advice and words of wisdom in a video he made just for his mentee.

The Little Mermaid

Disney has cast its Ariel in the Rob Marshall-helmed live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, with perfect songbird Halle Bailey getting the gig. While it may be a touch premature for specific fic regarding her go as the princess of Atlantica, there are some wonderful stories under the sea where you can simply just imagine it's her (because, guess what, it's a made-up story).

"The Skin Beneath the Skin" by jibrailis

Even if Ariel were to want to return to the sea, even if memories of shells and coral overshadow her restless nights, even if she were to look at her children, who speak only of land matters and never of the water -- even then, she cannot.

"The Littlest Witch" by turduckenail

The one where Ariel learned how to grant her own wish.

"Sail With Me" by Rosa_Cotton

Have you ever tried taking a princess sailing? It's a joke. Hence Eric stopped. Yet perhaps… AU.

The Walking Dead

It's over y'all. Done. Caput. Surprise. The comics, I mean. Robert Kirkman and Image Comics pulled the rug out from under the collective world when they suddenly ended The Walking Dead comic this week with absoloutely no warning. (The expanded television and soon-to-be movie universe will continue to milk that zombie for all its worth, though). If you're still in shock and maybe a bit of denial, fear not: there are some comic!verse stories to help soften the blow.

"Broken Wing" by heavenseed

Paul Jesus Rovia has been cut down by the Whisperers. Those who truly loved him always thought there would be more time. The only time is now, in the apocalypse and they learn to seize the moment in the wake of losing their friend.

"Return to the Beginning" by TheWeepingRaven

When Rick Grimes dies, he thought that was it. Until he woke up alive and well. With a redo of the apocalypse, Rick is going to change what he can and keep his people, his family, alive to the best of his abilities. He can only hope that it will go to plan this time. With a little luck on his side, he may find allies that remember too.

"Monday Calling" by Lupienne

Inspired by Issue 193. Negan regularly visits the resting spot of Lucille, but is pining over a grave all that's left in his life?
