The end of Star Wars Rebels Season 3 brings an unforgettable duo of episodes. Not only do you get to return to Tatooine for a visit with an older, wiser Obi-Wan Kenobi in "Twin Suns," you get the epic battle spectacular of the season finale, "Zero Hour."
The Kenobi moment had been building up all season, and when he faces off (once again) with Maul, his growth is very much apparent. He has finally become what the Jedi were always supposed to be, so he doesn't want to fight Maul at all. He knows he'll win. Maul, however, hasn't grown at all. He's still hopelessly pushing his tragic boulder up the hill again, and again. It's a quick encounter, but it is filled with thematic majesty. Never before has the rivalry of selfishness vs. selflessness been so apparent.
That all comes before Rebels gives you a great reason why the Rebel Alliance is so reluctant to fight in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Grand Admiral Thrawn hands them their butts in the finale, with a battle that takes place both in space and on the ground. Thanks to an idiot Admiral wanting to show-off, Sabine returning to help her friends, and a very pissed off magical space moose, a lot of our rebel friends are able to escape. Not all of them, though.
How do you even begin to describe the insane wonderment that is the Bendu, a force creature that exists between the light and the dark, turning into a rampaging storm and bellowing out with the voice of Tom Baker? You can't, but our heroes over on Jabba the Pod are going to try.
