Casting: Anya Taylor-Joy in Edgar Wright's new horror-thriller; Josie makes the jump from Riverdale to Katy Keene; more

By Donnie Lederer
Anya Taylor-Joy

While most of the country is trying to shovel their way out of the Polar Vortex, Hollywood kept pushing through with more casting news.

Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, Glass, The New Mutants) is set to play the lead in the latest from Edgar Wright, Last Night in Soho. The movie will be produced by Working Title, which also produced Wright's last feature, Baby Driver.

Though details are scant at this point, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be a horror-thriller set in the Soho district of London, which apparently guarantees a non-abstract title. Production for the film is set to start this summer.

Josie

Spoiler Alert: Josie McCoy makes it out of Riverdale. Ashleigh Murray will be one of the leads in the CW spinoff Katy Keene, whose pilot was picked up last week by the network. Should the show get picked up for series, Murray's Josie will leave Riverdale and meet up with the titular soon-to-be-world-famous model on her quest to make it big.

Katy Keene is set a few years after Riverdale, so Josie will be in her early 20s trying to make it within the music scene in New York City. So far, there are no plans for a Riverdale crossover, so fans will have to hold out hope that Crisis on Infinite Earths doesn't include just the DC shows.

Jumanji

It looks like the Jumanji circle is now complete. The four teens who transformed into their avatars in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will all be returning for the sequel. Alex Wolf (Spencer, avatar: Dwayne Johnson), Ser’Darius Blain (Fridge: avatar: Kevin Hart), Madison Iseman (Bethany, avatar: Jack Black), and Morgan Turner (Martha, avatar: Karen Gillan) have all signed on to the untitled film, which is set to open Dec. 13.

The four returning cast members join the main stars and newly added members Danny Glover and Danny DeVito, with Awkwafina (Ocean’s 8) in final talks to join the cast.
