Fetch! Roll over! Play dead! Good boy! Now...save the world! Warner Bros. has premiered the first trailer for DC League of Super-Pets, an animated feature headlined by Superman's canine pal, Krypto (voiced by Dwayne Johnson). Opening on the big screen next May, the film kicks into high gear when the Justice League — led by John Krasinski's Man of Steel — is captured by Lex Luthor. With Metropolis devoid of heroes, it's up to Krypto and a band of newly-powered shelter animals to save the day.

"Always wanted to do a buddy movie with @TheRock," Krasinski tweeted Monday, revealing his voiceover involvement with the project. "Well, these are the roles we were born to play! (FYI... DJ’s the one with the tongue)."

Directed and co-written by Jared Stern (a consultant on the LEGO movies), the project also features the voice talents of Kevin Hart (The Secret Life of Pets), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Vanessa Bayer (Saturday Night Live), Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll), Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Marc Maron (Joker), Thomas Middleditch (Solar Opposites), Ben Schwartz (Sonic the Hedgehog), and Keanu Reeves (The Matrix Resurrections). Stern co-wrote the screenplay alongside frequent creative collaborator, John Whittington.

Watch the trailer, which contains a little Marvel joke, below:

Stern and Johnson serve as producers alongside Patricia Hicks, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia. John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, Nicholas Stoller, Allison Abbate, Chris Leahy, Sharon Taylor, and Courtenay Valenti are executive producers.

Kim Taylor (production designer); David Egan and Jhoanne Reyes (co-editors); and Steve Jablonsky (composer) round out the creative crew behind-the-scenes.

"Super Pets is a DC universe like we have never seen before and it is a fun POV into the DC universe through these incredible pets," Garcia told ScreenRant last month. "When you're able to start with the OG of superheroes like Superman's dog, Krypto, and look into the superhero universe through the most powerful animal on the planet, it's really fun."

The producer continued: "I think most people understand there's nothing like the relationship between you and your pet. For us to anchor a story around that relationship, adding in the fact that Krypto has superpowers and he's the Superman of the animal world, it's a lot of fun. You can expect a lot of laughs. This is something that the whole family can see. Although the movie is super kid-friendly, there's also a lot of the subtle humor that adults are going to like that we had fun including."
