Exclusive: Teen Titans Go! tell their classic counterparts to chill in crossover clip
What could be better for fans of comic animation than two generations of Teen Titans teaming up to save the world? Hot off the Cartoon Network series’ first movie, the crossover film Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans delivers just that: the goofball modern team and their slightly more serious 2003 counterparts. But not every Teen Titans Go! fan was able to make it out to San Diego Comic-Con to see the film’s premiere with SYFY WIRE. So we decided to deliver our own, exclusive sneak peek at a film boasting not only two sets of Titans, but villains voiced by the likes of “Weird Al” Yankovic — and the surprise appearance of Santa Claus and a whole lot more.
Below you can see Cyborg (Khary Payton) and Beast Boy (Greg Cipes) telling, uh, other Cyborg (Payton) and other Beast Boy (Cipes) to take a chill pill. Hilarity, of course, ensues. Take a look:
Starfire remains her own blissfully ridiculous self in both series, but Cyborg and Beast Boy certainly do enjoy silly pronunciations more as their more childlike modern selves. “Worlogog.” Just say it.
Directed by Jeff Mednikow from a script by writers Marly Halpern-Graser and Jeremy Adams, Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans has almost as many superheroes as it has jokes — which made it play like gangbusters at its premiere. When the film actually comes out, it’ll be accompanied by plenty of special features (like a pair of musical miniseries) that’ll keep Titans fans occupied until the next time the supergroup is reimagined for TV.
Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans is out on digital release starting Sept. 24, adding Blu-rays to the mix on Oct. 15.
