Resident Alien Recap: Season 2, Episode 2 – 'The Wire'

Whoo-ee! Still trying to make sense of everything that happened in tonight's new episode of Resident Alien on SYFY? We've got you covered with a brisk video recap of all the major plot beats. Harry's doomsday bunker? Yep! Max's out-of-control body hair? You betcha! The latest on the murder investigation headed up by Sheriff Mike and Deputy Liv? Oh, most definitely!

"The only way you can keep that relatable on a human level is to just ground every piece of it as much as possible, including the alien, and really try to make his journey as an alien mirror the human challenges that we all have," showrunner Chris Sheridan said in our deep dive interview on the new season. "And, feel relatable to a regular audience who may or may not be interested in aliens. Or they may be, but would like to see a little bit of themselves in it."

One big shake-up this season finds our favorite extra-terrestrial getting a fresh power-up that allows him to assume the form of other human beings. That'll come in handy when Patience's finest return with a warrant for the arrest of Doctor Vanderspeigle. Still, one has to wonder if that growing suspicion will affect his slowly-thawing attitude towards humanity.

"We wanted to take the next step in Harry's evolution towards a more fuller concept of humanity," Sheridan said in an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette dedicated to the season opener. "We try to deal a little more with empathy this season. He's starting to see that other people are upset and feeling upset himself because of these emotions of someone outside of him."

The first two episodes of Resident Alien Season 2 are now available to stream on the SYFY app. New episodes — which air on SYFY every Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST — will arrive on Peacock the day after they air. Buckle up because there's plenty more alien shenanigans to come!
