How Harry & Max survived the crash and more BTS 'Resident Alien' Season 2 premiere secrets

Surviving a spaceship crash is not for the faint of heart (or stomach).

By John Albinson

Greetings from Patience, CO! To celebrate the Season 2 premiere of Resident Alien, we have an exclusive video for you that will give you a behind the scenes look at how the cast and crew crafted the latest episode. Watch Alan Tudyk (Harry) and Judah Prehn (Max) talk about how they pulled off Harry and Max’s infamous spaceship crash scene, which wasn’t quite as scary on set as it looked like in the show – but was still a little jarring for one cast member in particular.

How to Watch

Watch Resident Alien on SYFY and Peacock.

“We actually put Alan [Tudyk] down on a green turntable and took a crane above him, so when the ship is crashing Alan is just sort of rolling around on the turnable,” executive producer/director Robert Duncan McNeill dished.

“When you do things that make you dizzy when you’re young, and it’s like, ‘Oh, that was fun, I got dizzy!’ When you’re older, you go, ‘Wow! I want to vomit up what I just ate a little while ago,’” Tudyk tells Prehn.

The video also sees series creator Chris Sheridan talk about the fan-favorite talking octopus (voiced to perfection by Nathan Fillion) as well as Tudyk discuss Harry’s “childlike” running form.

Be sure to tune in to SYFY on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 10/9c for the next new episode of Resident Alien, and keep checking SYFY.com for more exclusive Resident Alien videos!
