Marvel's 'Secret Invasion' will include a Nick Fury-Maria Hill reunion

Cobie Smulders returning as Maria Hill, Nick Fury's second in command back when S.H.I.E.L.D. was still a thing.

The Marvel Disney+ series Secret Invasion already had a pretty impressive cast. We already knew the series will have MCU veterans Samuel L. Jackon as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos, but today we got confirmation that Cobie Smulders will be reprising her role as Fury’s right-hand woman, Maria Hill.

According to Deadline, Smulders will also find herself on the show, which is based on the comic book adaptation where the shapeshifting Skrulls — first introduced to the MCU in 2019’s Captain Marvel — invade Earth. These Skrulls are up to no good — they abduct various superheroes and then take their place, an act that causes unsurprising havoc.

Smulders has played Maria Hill since 2012’s The Avengers and has been in several MCU films since then including the three other Avengers movies as well as Capitan America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Far From Home. She also had an appearance in one of Disney+’s What If…? episodes.

While Hill is another MCU veteran, Secret Invasion will also have a slew of new stars joining the series too, including Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke, The Crown’s Olivia Coleman, and One Night in Miami’s Kingsley Ben-Adir, the last of whom will play a major villain. Christopher McDonald, Carmen Ejogo, and Killian Scott will also star in the show.

No news yet on who Clarke, Coleman, or the other cast members will play. And while we don't know specifically when Secret Invasion will infiltrate Disney+, we do know it’s currently set to come out sometime in 2022.
