There's nothing more terrifying than coming face-to-face with a pair of hungry, carnivorous dinosaurs on a remote ski slope, but Olympian Mikaela Shiffrin doesn't seem too bothered about it in a Jurassic World: Dominion crossover spot produced for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Beijing. "We've all grown up being awe-struck by the incredible dinosaurs in the Jurassic World films, so to suddenly be able to step into the world of these films and interact with Blue myself was exciting and unforgettable," Shiffrin said in a statement.

The idea of a T. rex and Velociraptor skulking around the pines of a snowy backdrop isn't too far-fetched — at least within the context of the third Jurassic World movie (out in theaters this summer). As evidenced by the first batch of production stills, Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Wearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) travel to a number of different biomes to corral (or escape from) a menagerie of prehistoric creatures now running loose across the globe.

"This is an extraordinary year for NBC Sports as we broadcast and stream the Winter Olympics and Super Bowl to audiences around the country this February," added Jenny Storms, CMO, Entertainment and Sports, NBCUniversal, said in a statement. "This Haley's comet of media events gives us an unprecedented opportunity to reach, engage and captivate consumers like never before. We are taking this to colossal levels by partnering with our friends at Universal on the biggest event in film this year, Jurassic World: Dominion. The spots we have created with our Olympic athletes are jaw-dropping, innovative and thrilling."

Check out the spot below:

"A new Jurassic World film is always a massive event, and Jurassic World: Dominion is unlike any fans have seen before," said David O'Connor, President of Franchise Management, Brand Strategy and Partnerships, Universal Pictures. "At Universal Pictures, our goal is to thrill and surprise audiences everywhere with stories and images beyond their wildest imaginations. The opportunity to work with our friends at NBC Sports, our exceptional Dominion filmmakers, the artists of ILM and these world-class Olympic athletes was a dream come true for all of us and we cannot wait for fans to see what we've created together."

Three separate ads (snowboarder Shaun White and figure skater Nathan Chen are the subjects of the other two) were produced as part of this cross-promotional initiative and will premiere across multiple NBCUniversal platforms next Monday, Jan. 31. A jumbo, two-minute spot comprised of all three commercials is slated to air during NBCU's coverage of the opening ceremony on Friday, Feb. 4.

"The only thing cooler than snowboarding is snowboarding with a dinosaur," White said. "Who would say no to that? I can't wait for everyone to see this."

"I've looked up in wonder at the Jurassic World films on movie screens, so to be able to do it myself is beyond anything I could have imagined," Chen concluded.

Coverage of the 2022 Winter Olympics will air on NBC and Peacock starting next Thursday — Feb. 3. Directed and co-written by Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World: Dominion exclusively stomps into theaters everywhere Friday, June 10.

NBC, Peacock, Universal Pictures & SYFY WIRE are all owned by NBCUniversal.
