While the big awards season news of the week will be the 76th Golden Globes this coming Sunday, the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) has released its nominations for the best "Grownup" movies of 2018.

Marvel Studios' Black Panther fared extremely well with the non-profit for retirees, nabbing three nods for Best Supporting Actress (Angela Bassett as Queen Ramonda), Best Ensemble, and Readers' Choice Poll. Damien Chazelle's Neil Armstrong biopic, First Man, is being recognized for Best Time Capsule and Readers' Choice Poll.

First Man Into the Spider-Verse Mary Poppins Returns

Disney's Mary Poppins Returns also netted two nominations for Best Intergenerational Movie and Readers' Choice Poll. In fact, the polling category is dominated by genre projects, including A Quiet Place, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Mission: Impossible - Fallout. The only non-genre contenders in said category are Crazy Rich AsiansBohemian Rhapsody, and BlacKkKlaansman.

The final winners of AARP's Movies for Grownups Awards will be announced in February on PBS. All of the nominated genre movies have also been nominated for Golden Globes.
