Come this September, IDW Publishing boldly adds to the success of 2019’s invigorating new era of Transformers comic books with its first-ever spinoff series titled Transformers: Galaxies.

These immersive new story arcs dip deeper into the origins, motivations, and planet-shattering machinations of the entire extended Transformers cast — and SYFY WIRE is powering up an exclusive preview of the premiere issue with a special story saluting the frenetic fan-favorite crew, the Constructicons!

Galaxies 1

Penned by Vox Media co-founder and lifelong Transformers aficionado Tyler Bleszinski and adorned with arresting artwork by veteran Transformers artist, Livio Ramondelli, Transformers: Galaxies #1 uncovers the clandestine secrets of Cybertron’s mesmerizing natural beauty and extraordinary metallic cityscapes.

In the series' storyline, ages ago in the aftermath of the War Against the Threefold Spark, the mighty Constructicons emerged to assist in the rebuilding of the sentient robots' devastated home planet in grand fashion. But exactly what happened to them in the intervening years, why had they been eradicated from Cybertronian history, and what have they been plotting for their unsettling return?

Galaxies Slice 1

"It's an incredible honor to be working with Livio Ramondelli, David Mariotte, Tom Waltz, and the entire Transformers team at IDW," Bleszinski tells SYFY WIRE. "I've dreamed of the day that I could somehow be involved in the Transformers universe and this is TRULY a dream come true for me. The fact that I get to create these comic books with one of the most talented Transformers artists ever in Livio will make them something I plan on passing down to my grandchildren as one of the best accomplishments of my life.

"There are legions of Transformers G1 fans out there who are hungry for an incredible treatment given to characters that they grew up with and loved as much as I did." he adds. "This story also includes an important lesson about how taking preemptive actions against something we fear can often lead to that greatest fear being realized."

Artist Livio Ramondelli believes the anthology format of Galaxies allows readers a chance to spend some quality time with a wide variety of interesting characters.

"I'm very excited to be kicking off the series with a major Constructicon/Devastator story, which will highlight some of the 'forgotten' working class of Cybertron, who created a vast and beautiful city but are then not permitted to enjoy it," he tells SYFY WIRE. "It's a really interesting and moving story about essentially the tragedy of the Constructicons."
