Development: Captain Marvel site gets '90s makeover; Enola Holmes finds director; HBO offers The Nevers update

Captain Marvel '90s website

It's been known for a while now that Captain Marvel would take place sometime in the mid-1990s. But now Marvel has revamped the film's official website to reflect these bygone days of gawdy web graphics and dial-up modems.

You can check it out in all its '90s glory here. Come for the nostalgia, stay for the dancing Nick Fuy GIF.

Alas, this era-appropriate makeover doesn't come with any real new information about the film itself, save for a "Human or Skrull" game that could technically constitute a spoiler. Without giving too much away, that old lady might not be the only Skrull on that subway.

Captain Marvel will soar into theaters March 8.

Next up, the Millie Bobbie Brown-starring adaptation of Enola Holmes has found a director. Variety reports that Killing Eve director Harry Bradbeer will helm the film.

Based on the Nancy Springer book series The Enola Holmes Mysteries, the story follows the little sister of the world's greatest detective, Sherlock Holmes, of course. And she's no slouch at sleuthing herself.

The script will come from Jack Thorne, who penned Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the highest-grossing Broadway play in history. He also wrote National Treasure (the Hulu miniseries, not the Nic Cage movie about stealing the Declaration of Independence).

Production is slated to start this summer, once Brown wraps her work on Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Finally, HBO programming chief Casey Bloys gave an update on Joss Whedon's sci-fi drama series The Nevers, via The Wrap.

"We just started. [Joss] has been writing. It’s very exciting. We’ve just started talking about names, starting auditions, things like that. So we’re just starting," he said.

The series is described as a Victorian-set science fiction drama about a group of women who find themselves with unusual abilities who have to fight relentless enemies, on a mission that might change the world.

Whedon calls it "the most ambitious narrative I’ve created."

"It’s been too long since I created an entirely new fictional world, and the HBO team offer not just scope and experience, not just ‘prestige,’ but a passionate collaboration. I could go on, but – I’m impatiently grateful to say – I have work to do."

As of now, The Nevers has no official premiere date, but it sounds like everyone will be excited to announce it when the time comes. The Wrap did get word, however, that Westworld Season 3 will start production next month and is aiming for a 2020 release date. And Bloys gave an update on Game of Thrones and its spin-offs, too.
