Going through serious Squid Game withdrawal? No problem. Apple TV+ is here to soothe those craving jitters with a brand-new genre series from South Korea: Dr. Brain. Premiering in early November, the six-episode miniseries looks like a thrilling combination of Memento, Inception, and Minority Report. Lee Sun-kyun (who starred in the Oscar-winning Parasite) plays the titular neuroscientist, who conducts “brain syncs” with the dead in an effort to solve the mysterious tragedy that befell his family.

Kim Jee-woon (A Tale of Two Sisters, I Saw the Devil) wrote, directed, and executive-produced the show, which is an adaptation of the Korean webtoon of the same name by Hongjacga. It is Apple's first Korean-language project and among "a growing slate of Apple Original international dramas hailing from global award-winning storytellers," reads the official release.

"It was interesting to follow the protagonist's journey as he looks into a mysterious accident and unravels what actually happened to his family and why. I think I can offer a unique take on the sci-fi thriller," Jee-woon told The Korea Times back in March of this year. "I also loved the theme and subjects it explores. The series demonstrates how a character becomes self-aware of the ironies in life by accessing the minds and memories of others and studying how others had perceived him. He also rebuilds a broken relationship."

Samuel Yeunju Ha, Jamie Yuan Lai, Ham Jung-yeub, Daniel Han, Joy Jinsoo Lee, Min Young Hong, and Antonio H.W. Lee also serves as executive producers. Kim Jin A and KOH YoungJae are writers.

The first episode of Dr. Brain uploads its consciousness to Apple TV+ Wednesday, Nov. 3 in the United States.

The series will premiere on a global scale the following day (Thursday, Nov. 4) to coincide with the streaming platform's launch in South Korea. New episodes are scheduled to debut weekly through Friday, Dec. 10.
