Next year, Disney will open Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, a new immersive experience at Walt Disney World that will take guests on a two-day voyage aboard the Halcyon, a starcruiser that happens to have a very rich history in the Star Wars galaxy. Just as they did with Batuu, the setting of Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park attraction, Marvel Comics will help fill in some of the Halcyon's story early next year with a new miniseries of Star Wars tales, and SYFY WIRE can exclusively reveal that the series will include a brand-new adventure starring Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala.
As teased at a Galactic Starcruiser fan event earlier this month, Marvel's Star Wars: The Halcyon Legacy is a five-issue miniseries written by Ethan Sacks with art by Will Sliney, that will feature several all-new stories set throughout Star Wars history, each spotlight a different adventure or famous passenger who's been aboard the Halcyon in its decades-long history. The first issue arrives this January and will feature stories from both the High Republic and Resistance Eras, while the second issue follows in February with another Resistance Era tale and a Clone Wars era tale focused on bounty hunter Aurra Sing. Issue #3, as spotlight in the exclusive cover below, will take us back to the Clone Wars once again for a secret mission starring young Jedi Anakin and Republic Senator Padmé.
Here's how Marvel describes the issue, which will also include an appearance by a fan-favorite Dark Side Force user:
"Anakin and Padmé are in disguise aboard the Halcyon tracking a senator suspected of having separatist ties! But their secret mission will put them on a collision course with Asajj Ventress."
And here's how Sacks described working on the story:
“One of the best parts of writing this mini-series is that chance to visit different eras aboard this beautiful starcruiser," he told SYFY WIRE. "And one of my favorite eras is during the Clone Wars, back when Anakin and Padmé are in the midst of forging their legends. As much as this particular issue of the Halcyon Legacy is a love story, it's also a love letter from Will Sliney and I to these characters who hold a special place in the hearts of so many Star Wars fans. Including us. But this isn't a pleasure cruise for our heroes. They're on a secret mission. And all that romance doesn't mean it won't be necessary to break out a lightsaber or blaster when the mission takes a turn...”
Star Wars: The Halcyon Legacy #3, which also features another story from the Resistance era running alongside Padmé and Anakin's adventure, is in stores this March. Look out for the first issue of the miniseries on January 26.
