Matt Reeves unveils 'The Batman' logo and exclusive Jim Lee print ahead of DC FanDome

The Batman still hasn't finished shooting all of its footage, but that didn't stop writer-director Matt Reeves from revealing the film's official, batarang-covered logo on Twitter today in anticipation of DC FanDome this coming weekend.

Reeves, who co-wrote the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin (Project Power), also showed off some exclusive convention artwork drawn by DC Publisher/Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee. In it, you can behold the back-to-basics bat-suit that will be worn by Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne. The bloody tinge and scuffed aesthetic on these pieces of promotional imagery give us a rather ominous feeling in the pit of our stomachs.

Yesterday, it was reported that Warner Bros. is hoping to resume the film's U.K. production next month. Since August began, crew members have supposedly been hard at work building sets. If all goes well, The Batman could wrap up principal photography by the end of the year, with plenty of time for post-production and reshoots ahead of the planned theatrical debut on Oct. 1, 2021.

Zoë Kravitz ("Catwoman"), Paul Dano ("Riddler"), Jeffrey Wright ("Commissioner Gordon"), John Turturro ("Carmine Falcone"), Peter Sarsgaard ("Gotham DA Gil Colson"), Jayme Lawson (Gotham mayoral hopeful "Bella Reál"), Andy Serkis ("Alfred Pennyworth"), and Colin Farrell ("Penguin") make up the rest of the A-list ensemble.

Set during the early days of the Caped Crusader's crime-fighting career, The Batman is said to take a good chunk of inspiration from Frank Miller's influential Batman: Year One storyline. In addition, Reeves previously teased that his take on the character is going to lean heavily into noir elements as the movie fully exploits the hero's reputation as "The World's Greatest Detective."

Now taking place over two separate dates, DC FanDome begins this Saturday, Aug. 22. The Batman panel, hosted by Archer's Aisha Tyler, will close out the virtual con's first day in the "Hall of Heroes" at 8:30 p.m. EST. Get more event details by clicking here.
