According to Katee Sackhoff, the Netflix sci-fi series Another Life will not be getting another season. Sackhoff, who stars on the show, broke the news on her Twitter account yesterday.

“I’d like to thank everyone single person who watched & supported Another Life on @netflix,” she wrote. “To our crew & cast thank you for always working so hard & being prepared. I wish we could do more seasons but sadly it’s just not in the cards 🚀 See you on the next adventure ❤️ Love Niko.”

Another Life focuses on Sackhoff’s character, Niko Breckinridge, an astronaut who leads a crew searching for alien intelligence. When they take on a mission to learn more about an alien artifact, things go sideways (as things often do in sci-fi dramas) and Niko and her crew face great danger and potentially even death.

The show was created by Aaron Martin and got two seasons of 10 episodes each on the streaming platform. While the second season didn’t end on a major cliffhanger, it did leave the door wide open for more stories in that world. But at this point, it seems this is the end of the journey. SYFY WIRE has reached out to Netflix for confirmation about the show's cancellation but has not yet received a response.

When Netflix first announced the show in 2018, many were excited to see Sackhoff — who also played Starbuck in the much-beloved Battlestar Galactica — head back to space. The series, however, was panned by critics, getting an impressive 6% Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score, though audiences liked it a good bit better with a 69% rating.

Given the lackluster response to the series, it’s not entirely shocking the show didn’t get a third season. But still, it had enough fans to score two seasons at Netflix, so there are certainly some fans who will be bummed by the news. The good news is Sackhoff is playing Bo-Katan in the Star Wars universe, and there's a good chance we'll see her once again at some point if/when she reprises the role for Disney+.
