The question of whether or not the most prestigious school of witchcraft and wizardry in Europe holds annual class reunions is answered in the official trailer for HBO Max's Return to Hogwarts retrospective special. Streaming on New Year's Day, the highly-anticipated magical event brings together Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and more spell-casting alumni to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

After all these years, the various cast members will reunite for a look back at their iconic characters and the global impact of the multi-billion dollar film franchise. Below, you'll learn some fun tidbits about the casting of Voldemort and Bellatrix's fake teeth.

"The thing that scared me the most was the implication that the most meaningful in our life was done and there's something so joyous about seeing everyone," Radcliffe states in the trailer.

Watch below:

Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), James Phelps (Fred Weasley), Oliver Phelps (George Weasley), Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas), Ian Hart (Professor Quirrell), Toby Jones (Dobby), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), David Heyman (producer of all the Potter films) Chris Columbus (director of the first two movies), Alfonso Cuarón (director of Prisoner of Azkaban), Mike Newell (director of Goblet of Fire), and David Yates (director of the last four movies) are also set to make appearances.

“It has been an incredible journey since the debut of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone film, and witnessing how it has evolved into this remarkable interconnected universe has been magical to say the least,” Tom Ascheim, President, Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics, said when the reunion special was first announced last month. “This retrospective is a tribute to everyone whose lives were touched by this cultural phenomenon — from the talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into this extraordinary film franchise to the passionate fans who continue to keep the Wizarding World spirit alive 20 years later.”

Casey Patterson of Casey Patterson Entertainment (A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote) and Pulse Films (Beastie Boys Story) serves as executive producer.

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will exclusively stream on HBO Max Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. It should tide fans over until Friday, April 15 when Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore hits the big screen.
